This place is great. A true mom and pop. Where Lombardi's and Grimaldi's and all the hispter-esqe pizza joints went wrong. Phil's keeps it as is, if you walked in with a leisure suit on it would not surprise me. The cast of characters who frequent the pizzeria is also spectacular. It's got sitcom comedy written all over it.
The pizza is NYC pizza. If you are looking for the best ever your not going to get it. If you want to spend less then 10 bucks for a couple slices and a soda this spot is where to go. Cash only because it should be. I'm currently typing this sitting on my lunch break soaking in the ambiance of this wonder. -

2nd time at Phils was not nearly as good as the first.
This time we ordered a whole pie and although we requested and paid for extra cheese, there didn't seem to be extra cheese on the pie.
The pie itself wasn't all that good either. Crust was a bit limp and that lovely oven flavor just wasn't there there time.
It was simply ok (which was kind of disappointing after our first experience).
We'll try Phils again and cross our fingers that this 2nd time was just an off day for them. -

During my recent business trip I picked up a few slices to bring back to Washington, D.C. for my kids. The staff were thrilled and excited that I was taking it all the way back home on a train. They packaged it up to best prepare it for the long journey. My kids enjoyed every bite and we'll be sure to stop in the next time we are visiting the area. Thank you!

Best pizza in the West Village, forget Joe's and John's pizza and do yourself a favor and grab a slice at Phil's. The price has stayed relatively the same since I began going here, also friendliest family run pizzeria in this neighborhood, fresh ingredients and always fresh pizza available!!

Great fresh hot pizza always. Place is a great lunch spot to visit and the service is pleasant. Garlic sticks are some of the best around and prices are to.
